Wow. This is an amazing gadget. The only one currently on the market worth getting besides the Motorola Xoom and that one costs $200 more. It comes with multi-touch which is rare in Android tablets for some reason and the touch screen is incredibly responsive. Not as responsive at the Iphone or an Itouch but it is the fastest touchscreen I've seen on an android device to date. The internet works amazingly and browsing works like a charm. Downloading Flash lets you view even the strangest websites with ease.
The screen gets very messy and I would recommend a screen covering of some kind. It supports third party keyboards which plug in via USB port, making typing long essays (or blog posts!) a breeze. I am currently using this one and for $30 it works like a charm. No need to mess around to get it working, you literally plug it in and restart your Tablet and you're all set to go!
The GTablet comes with ViewSonic's own Android OS "Tap Tap" or some shit like that. It is honestly the worst piece of shit software I've ever used. The MarketPlace doesn't work at all and you can't even register the tablet with your google account. Luckily if you head over to XDA Developers you can root the device and put a real version of Android on it. I am using the Vega-n OS which is equivalent to Android 2.3. It only takes about 2 hours (and much more if you have no idea what you're doing, like myself) and you can actually use your tablet!
As you can see I am pretty livid over the built in OS that came on the GTablet but after that is gone it is a very solid device. I would give the GTablet a 8/10. It's an amazing device and I would chose it over a net book any day.
So there's the GTablet review! What do you think I should do next? Leave a comment and let me know!

ReplyDeleteNice review, I am in the process of buying a tablet as well.
ReplyDeleteI am also looking to buy a tablet sometime in the near future. Any recomendations?
ReplyDeleteif the tablet is cheap, i'll buy it :)
ReplyDeleteWow well this ''idiot'' review was actually pretty good, I was looking for an iPad alternative, and the flash thingy you're saying just convinced me, I think i'll check it up, thank you! Following =)
ReplyDeletegood iPad alternatives,
ReplyDeleteI'd heard a bit about the Xoom being an iPad alternative, but this review tells me much more!
ReplyDeletei prefer the ipad more, this one is just a copy of it. in my opinion
ReplyDeleteI really, really, really want an android tablet :)
ReplyDeleteDo want ! Thanks for posting :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I'd love one.
ReplyDeleteI REALLY like the idea of removable memory. And I don't have to buy an extra adapter like with the already extremely overpriced IPad. From my experience, the best OS to install IS Vega-n. I tried Cyanogenmod and TNT and they both have many bugs. Installing is not as hard as you would imagine in there are clear instructions available at xda-developers.com
ReplyDeleteNot really into the whole tablet thing, but good review!
ReplyDeleteGood read, I looked into getting the blackberry tablet and decided against tablets in general. Maybe not anymore. :)
ReplyDeletesweet stuff!
ReplyDeletebeats the crap out of the ipad
ReplyDeleteNot gonna sell
ReplyDeleteI rather get an iPad
ReplyDeletei prefer netbooks

ReplyDeleteima hold off on the tablet till they can do everything the laptop does
ReplyDeleteyou know youre shit.
ReplyDeleteGreat post :D!
ReplyDeletethis review was interesting looking for more!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing read!
ReplyDeletewell it would be cool if there were any atual pictures of the tablet e__e
ReplyDeleteDo you think the extra $200 is worth it to be able to use Honeycomb with the Xoom?
ReplyDeleteI sell these things at work, and I would recommend going up to a Xoom or maybe a blackberry. Most people expect more out of them than what they can provide.
ReplyDeleteI agree , writing on tablets could be a nightmare
ReplyDeleteWriting on tablets can be fine, my ex had/has an HP tm2 or whatever tablet (a real tablet pc, not a slate like device)and I loved using it. I will be picking one of those up used for teaching. Tablet + widi (wireless display) + projector means i get to walk around the classroom and be at the board. Plus I can bring the board to anyone I want, so pay attention ;)!
